United Way’s Tocqueville Society is comprised of philanthropic leaders and volunteer champions who give $10,000 or more annually to United Way, creating a profound and lasting impact on Palm Beach County and on the lives of all those who live and work here.
Today our Tocqueville Society is ushering in a new era of caring. In concert with our CEO and Society Chairs, members of the Society are reaching out to one another to understand personal and collective philanthropic areas of interest. We invite and encourage you to learn more about the Society and share with us information on causes you care about.
In turn, we look forward to—

The UWPBC Tocqueville Society is named after the French author Alexis de Tocqueville who, in the 1800s, traveled extensively throughout the United States. His observations, readings and discussions with eminent Americans formed the basis of Democracy in America, a detailed study of American society and politics.
The observation on philanthropy made by Alexis de Tocqueville in 1831 is true today. Americans understand that advancing the common good means creating opportunities for a better life for all.
