 OVERVIEW

Since 1946, United Way of Palm Beach County and the Unions of the Palm Beach-Treasure Coast have enjoyed a cooperative relationship through which they provide services to members of organized labor, their families and their communities through the AFL-CIO Community Services Program and its Liaison.

An AFL-CIO Executive Council statement passed in February of 1956 developed the statement of principles for the AFL-CIO Community Services Program.

Two very important principles from that statement are:

 1. The union member is first and foremost a member of the community.
