April is Volunteer Appreciation Month

April is a very special month for United Way of Palm Beach County and its Volunteer Center. April 10-16 has been designated as National Volunteer Week by the Points of Light Foundation. In addition, Volunteer Florida, the Governor's Commission on volunteerism and community service, has designated the month of April as Volunteer Month. United Way's Volunteer Center is a member of the Volunteer Florida Network and the Points of Light Foundation.

In 2010, more than 1,280 people volunteered 15,435 hours. Congratulations to those volunteers for giving their time to help others. The value of that volunteer time is $321,819.75*.

Thank you, Volunteers!

*The value of volunteer time ($20.85) is provided by the Independent Sector, the leadership forum for charities, foundation and corporate giving programs, and is based upon the 2009 average earnings, as determined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (www.independentsector.org)
